A creepy place...

This place could be the home to all the stories and creatures we had heard and known before:    It was on May 5th when I found myself in the middle of the night in a mysterious town. After walking through the street I realised that I had taken the wrong bus; suddenly I heard a strange noise behind me,  I wasn't sure if that noise was coming from a human been or an animal, honestly I didn't want to look back, If only I hadn't boarded that bus...

Wherever you are, it's hard to get into college

College, that apparently difficult phase where you get frustrated from time to time for not knowing what to do with your life at the end of the semester. A lot of people have passed by this situation and we can look at them peacefully walking on the streets, that means that nothing last forever; that's why we should enjoy the most of this experience. Talking about the uni, the SAT test is an important step to the ones whom wonder to be in this situation -at least in the USA- here in México, it's kinda different but we passed too by the complicated and stressful phase of doing an exam. In our case, we have limited possibilities... UNAM is the first one for the majority, IPN could be considered it as the second (probably) and UAM as the third one. Not because they're worse than the first one, but c'mon UNAM is considered it as the number one in all Latin America, that should mean something... Going back to the central topic of this entry, the SAT looks rea...

Living forever...

Oasis was one of the most famous and popular rock bands on the early 90's, their legacy (if we can call it as that) still lives on every rock fan heart, especially in the British ones. Live Forever was written by Noel Gallagher on 1991 but it was until 1994 when the song saw the light as one of the singles in their debut album Definitely Maybe. Maybe I don't really wanna know How your garden grows cos I just want to fly Lately, did you ever feel the pain? In the morning rain as it soaks you to the bone Maybe I just want to fly I want to live I don't want to die Maybe I just want to breathe maybe I just don't believe Maybe you're the same as me we see things they'll never see you and I were gonna live forever Explanation: He | confessed that he doesn't care about the simple things of life.       | wondered if we (as listeners) feel the same way as he does.       | affirmed that (if it's the case and we look life as he does) we...

Work conditions now... Aren't we far from the 19th?

It's a cold fact that the cost of living has change along the years; specially If we talk about now and two centuries ago. In this essay I'll be mentioning the differences ans similarities that exist between the working conditions here in Mexico and the working conditions back in the 19th, particularly at the Industrial Revolution (I.R.) First at all, it's hard to place both scenarios in one debate; just for the simple reason that they ain't in the same era or even geographic location. Now ''almost'' everybody in the world enjoy of many rights and benefits; but back in the day the situation wasn't that good. In the 19th Great Britain (and almost all Europe) was passing by a transition, the countryside was being replaced by the city -like nowadays- just to be able to work (and gain ''more'' money) in some of the plenty factories that started to function in that time. As I said in the first lines of the last paragraph, both ...

Practice, practice, practice...

Ted Talks has always been a really interesting way to  meet new opinions. On this ocassion with the polyglot Sid Efromovich, we get some strategies that might or not help us to learn easily a language. The first advice he shared with the audience was to accept how to be wrong, as human beens we are always used to do the best of us. But as he mentioned, when we are learning a new language it's really easy to get wrong over and over again. I agree with him that it's important to be wrong because in that way we discover where do we have to focused. The next suggestion he made was to assume that there will always be a database that is unknown for us, but what we have to do is to make notes about that word, or even sound, that we think is wrong so in a future with some help we can manage it as we want. Another thing he mentioned was the importance to have someone that knows about the language/ topic beside us, so when we have any question about it we can be sure that person wi...

Learning how to learn...

Styles Everybody has their own way to learn, some enjoy more to watch a collage of images that explain a topic than reading a whole text about it. Some others just need a quick but direct explanation than a long and repetitive talk about the same topic. In my case, talking first about the way I ''get'' the principal ideas, it seems that I'm a reflective person. In other words that mean that I prefer to think first than act. Maybe that's a good thing or maybe not... Then on the second line on the image that you can see below, it says that I'm more a sensitive learner what it means that even I work slower than the rest I do it carefully. It's better explain on the next line that I get from the site Ncsu.edu  Sensors tend to be more practical and careful than intuitors; intuitors tend to work faster and to be more innovative than sensors. The next line that shows what kind of learner I am, says that I'm more a visual person than a verbal...
