It's a cold fact that the cost of living has change along the years; specially If we talk about now and two centuries ago. In this essay I'll be mentioning the differences ans similarities that exist between the working conditions here in Mexico and the working conditions back in the 19th, particularly at the Industrial Revolution (I.R.)
First at all, it's hard to place both scenarios in one debate; just for the simple reason that they ain't in the same era or even geographic location. Now ''almost'' everybody in the world enjoy of many rights and benefits; but back in the day the situation wasn't that good. In the 19th Great Britain (and almost all Europe) was passing by a transition, the countryside was being replaced by the city -like nowadays- just to be able to work (and gain ''more'' money) in some of the plenty factories that started to function in that time.
As I said in the first lines of the last paragraph, both situations are located in two different eras, what is sad because the situation hasn't change a lot. It's true that now the majority of the population who works do it under better conditions, but the reality is that there are lots of people who still suffer of bad working conditions, specially in Asia or even in North america in some specifics jobs. But returning to the main topic, in the I. R. the men were earning almost 75 pounds for 12- 14 hours of hard work meanwhile the women 35 and the kids 15. In the actuality, it's not a secret that the men make more money than the women but now it's ''hard'' to find a person younger than 15 years old working.
In Mexico, the official hours are just 8 but in some cases if the person wants to earn more money has to work extra hours to get it, some people could work the same amount of hours than in the British example that I mentioned before. The minimum wage here in Mexico is 80 pesos per day and as I mentioned at the beginning of this text, that money isn't the enough to help families to have a good kind of life.
That's why the title of this essay, it doesn't matter how we have grow up as society the rich people will always look after their good and not for the rest whom doesn't own anything more than their work force.
